...Or Maybe Little Marvin the Martians

New Year's Eve party last night and someone brought these edible penguins for the hors d'oeuvres table. Sheena laughed her ass off and played with them when nobody was looking. Didn't eat any though, because olives out of a can are a sin against God and nature.

Here's the instructions.

You got that right toots. Those completely tasteless orbs are only used by milk toast suburbanites when they make that fancy Mediterranean pasta salad shite with the mild Ontario feta to show their friends how cultured they are.

Yuck. And happy new year (although ours isn't until JAN 14TH!)

i made a cheesecake. it was very pedestrian looking so i opened a can of strawberry rhubarb pie filling and spread a bit on top and it looked spectacularly delicious. then i gave almost all of it to my ex who loves cheese more than anyone or anything else in the world.

Sheena,

This blog is great. As I think you know, I am moving from Cowtown to the High Park/Parkdale area in the New Year. On your recommendation, my girlfriend & I dropped into "The Local" this past weekend. A very charming spot, with great staff too.We only did a quick visit, but the fact that it is only a 5 minute stumble from home base is very appealing....

I hope you'll soon rank the Polish delis/butcher shops on Ronces. As we walked down that street I was drooling at the thought of BBQ'ing some of those sausages, hope to hear you've made a taste test& have crowned a winner.

Best Regards, and Happy New Year.

Might take a while for Reg to land full time in the Big Smoke. I am trying to convince my employer that I can do my current job from Toronto just as easily as I can from Calgary. A long process...

But one way or another, I should be there by end of March at the latest. We can all go for milkshakes & waffles at Daddy-O's on Ronces....

too cute.
but I'm with you on the canned olive thing.
I had a take-out Greek salad today which was smothered in canned chopped olives...
canned olives fall in the same category as canned mushrooms.
just plain wrong.
happy new year sheena.

Okay, those are amazing. I'll take out-of-a-can anyday if it means an end result like that - I just bookmarked the recipe.

Ingenius - I can't wait to serve those sometime.
