Joe, hop in a cab and head to Hess Village (3 min. cab ride from the Sheraton - you can even walk there). It's the place to be in Hamilton. Not sure of the restaurants, but there are at least half a dozen cool bars there, most with patios, and some good bluesy-rocksy entertainment in the evenings.
JC, after the bars close, you may wish to cab down to Hamilton Beach, with your favourite bottle in a brown paper bag. There is a phenomenon there that is unsuspected. As you stand on the beach and look east, you will see the glow of T.O. to your left and the glow of St.Catherine's/Niagara to your right. But straight up, and looking east (along the length of Lake Ontario) is a swath of sky with stars that are unaffected by city lights. Weather/atmospheric conditions permitting, it is truly spectacular. Like being up north. And the sunrise can be heavenly. Make sure you get the cab co. #, so you can be picked up, after dawn. Aim for the Beach Motor Inn, as an address.
If your schedule permits, there is also a Dieppe Memorial along the beach, that you may wish to visit during the day, and on the other side of Hamilton, there is the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, where you might even go for a spin in a Lancaster Bomber, or a smaller craft (www.warplane.com/).

Sheena, I'm stuck in Hamilton, I'm alone, and I'm bored... any suggestions for a half decent restaraunt?
I'm at the Sheraton on King St.
Please... save me from myself before I gouge my eyes out having to put up with myself.
I should add I'm stuck here for the next 5 days, so any place you can think of will be welcome relief...

Hamilton?
Get thee out to wine country, fine sir.
I know nothing about Hamilton. Other than I need to get on the QEW at the Ikea en route to Niagara.

Cheers, and have fun!
Thanks all... found the pubs last night. Found the beach after that. Found the police after that.
Now I'm trying to misplace my hangover.
