More To Die For Tunes

Yes. Cheek is fully entitled to a hearty "I Told You So, FCS", but bought the Cake Fashion Nugget CD today and OMG if their remake of "I Will Survive" is not the finest piece of angst ridden horn blowing, Sheena will forgo any future bite of quince jelly for the remainder of her days here in purgatory (aka K-Dub).

Cake Music here

More good shit rebought and rediscovered:

Psychedelic Furs
The Mavericks
The Shins from the Garden State CD (yes another Cheek AND Sooey ITYS)
Level 42
Gogol Bordello Super Taranta! Extra bonus "le sigh" for those who remembers this SheenaVision angsty post.
Siouxsie and the Banshees Greatest Hits Thanks Beast...
White Stripes. Yee Haw Cape Breton Cuzzin Jack!!!

Oh and way more... Rick Astley, Nina Simone, The Watchmen, Fine Young Cannibals, Tory Amos, KT Tunstall... too many CDs to unwrap and too little time.

Holy Shit. I really suck at Christmas shopping for other people, eh?

New Slang is a great song but I don't think the Shins have their full impact with any one song. The majesty of that band is being shocked by track after track -- "how did they do that!?" -- for an album long.

Chutes Too Narrow -- there's fifteen bucks well spent right there. Buy it for everyone on your list. If they didn't like it, take 'em off your list; you don't need to know them.

Lots of great music picks here though. I can't deny it, Cake are gods upon earth too.

shouldn't they be calling themselves (or the song) CheeseCake?

"While Frank Sinatra sings "Stormy Weather"
The flies and spiders get along together
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record"

I listened to that record over and over 10 years ago after a nasty break up. It's not like I didn't have another girl on the side to fall back on (I was a whatyacallit... a slut)but I kinda missed the emotional abuse from the one that got away. That Cake album soothed my shattered heart.

Oh ya the bitch was a Wicca, I real hate Wiccans.

What's up with the wiccan comments? Your substance-abuser mentioned this a week or so ago...(This begs for a wicked witch of the western burbs crack, but that would just be offensive...) ;-)

Kimplicated and Pid's peep that went with us to the Tally Shackshaker's gig performed my Cake intervention this summer, Sheena. Good goes around.

The band's still working up Stickshifts and Safetybelts, and we plan to add it into set rotation in January.

Hey , well ...

I'm only fucked , when I'm fucked .

Wiccans rule ... when it's their turn.

Sorry, the appropriate mixture of humour and curiosity is hard to convey in a comment box. Not judging substance abusers or Wiccans (or Wiccan Substance Abusers...)

If not for a smidge of self-discipline and my need for a paycheque, I'd probably be a junkie living in a cardboard box down on Queen St.

I know what you mean .

Well , not really .

You fly when you want ,

I only fly when I'm fucked...

Nevertheless , the heights are there,

to achieve ...

Humour is allowed ;

in fact , it is expected ...

I fly when they tell me to, and, really, it's only another form of prostitution.

Now, the kinda flying you're talking about... I'm all for cosmic experiences, but, personally, if I wandered down that road- I'd probably never find my way back.

But, that's just my personality. If you can dabble and still keep a day job- good on ya.

Back to the music thread- based upon the above recommendations, I've picked up a Shins album, and I'm just about to take it out of the shrinkwrap.

Here's hoping it's groovy, baby.

Wow ! White noise , I dig it !

I checked out your 'cosmic exeriences' link ...

I luv writers , but I feel sorry for them, 'cus poets can say the same thing in less than 800 words (or less), if the're on the ball...

Not me perhaps, but others can anoint brevity, if it suits their needs, of Schnapps ...
